Architect and designer, Ilaria Marelli, opened her own laboratory of ideas in 2004 with the “Ilaria Marelli studio”, working on product, interior and staging design, and providing strategy and trend consulting in the design industry. Ilaria Marelli has designed products and Collections for Cappellini, Cassina, Zanotta, Fiam, Coro, Bonaldo, Bosa ceramic, E & Y, Invicta, Coin, Variazioni, Lancia Y (merchandising) and single pieces for international exhibitions.
She works as a product consultant for the American brand Tivoli Audio. Ilaria has designed staging for fashion and design events, including “Pitti Uomo e Bimbo”, and works with showroom interiors - such as the Aquagirl store in Tokyo Omotesando - as well as private interiors. The architect is interested in organising social initiatives in urban environments: together with Ezio Manzini and Luke Mortara, she promoted the first project on Cohousing in Italy and worked on the project management for the prize winning entry of the “La Città di Città” competition of Milan, which was directed at integrating business in highly multi-ethnic areas.
For the last six years, she has been a professor of Industrial Design at the Politecnico di Milano, collaborating with Poli.design on applied research. In 2007, Ilaria Marelli was appointed by the Ministry for Cultural Heritage to be a member of the first Italian Design Council and, in 2008, she received the MILANODONNA Award 2008 from Letizia Moratti. The works of Ilaria Marelli are published in art books and international publications, including: Domus, Abitare, Interni, Frame, Casa International China, Wall Paper, Surface, as well as making the cover of Elle Decor, Box, and a+d+m.
