The Tandem project, by Paolo Ulian for AZZURRA, won the iF product design award 2009, the international award that, since 1954, has been one of the most significant competitions of the design sector. It will therefore be included in the “iF yearbook product 2009”, displaying all prize-winning products of the International Forum Design.
With the Tandem project, Paolo Ulian provides his personal interpretation of the washbasin, suggesting a freer way of living at home, far from the set trends. Tandem calls for a new approach that is designed to suit your personal needs (clean linen basket, dirty laundry basket, wastepaper basket, etc.) “In the bathroom”, the designer explains, “the washbasin and wastepaper basket are often two items that live closely together.
Is it not by chance that the wastepaper basket often finds its ideal place in the free space under the washbasin. It was through observing this intriguing and concerted relationship that sometimes forms between different objects, that the Tandem project came into being. The ceramic washbasin incorporates a removable waste basket made of white lacquered polyurethane which, given its generous size, may also be used as a laundry basket. It is easy to manage with two convenient handles”.
