The Design Plus is considered one of the most important awards in the field of design, research and environmental sustainability. Messe Frankfurt and the German Design Council have been organising this prestigious competition for many years, which awards products that most embody this philosophy. 153 companies from 14 countries participated in the selections for ISH 2009, making a total of 316 products. AZZURRA sanitari received the award with the “Nuvola” collection by Angeletti Ruzza design. Nuvola is a collection of ceramic bathroom ware with a clean and soft design.
Inspired by the full and rounded shapes of the human body, its design expresses the idea of living in harmony with the world around us. Nuvola’s fundamental value is its simplicity. An apparent simplicity, concealing an authentic thought process which goes against the trends. Style and functionality are contained in a comforting product that is part of our daily lives. This is thanks to our careful attention to environmental issues.
Sensitive to water crisis and to the fact that 20% of our domestic water consumption is flushed from the toilet, AZZURRA has taken steps in order to flush the Nuvola wall-hung, floor and coupled WC with 4.5 litres, which is the strictly necessary quantity, thereby reducing water consumption to a minimum, compared to the standard 6 litres. This is the second award that the company has won in a very short space of time. In fact, only a few months ago, the expert jury of the International Forum Design of Hanover has awarded the iF prize to the Tandem project by Paolo Ulian. These are two very important achievements that demonstrate the effectiveness of Azzurra’s mission to obtain an even higher quality of materials, as well as to pursue formal research and technological innovation.
